Located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, this project envisions a landmark housing estate for urban farmers, integrating living, agriculture, and enterprise into the city’s fabric. The design is anchored by a green axis connecting the site to a nearby garden, around which the built mass is organized. Rooted in a micro-climatic sunlight analysis, the project positions high- and low-light crops on all four façades, wrapping cultivation around residential spaces.
The spatial layout follows a modular grid, with housing and retail along the periphery and open community farms at the core. Portions of the structure lift above the ground to form public plazas that host markets, food stores, and local suppliers—spaces that both activate the street and sustain urban farmers economically.
The architectural form emerges as stacked, plug-in boxes, creating a dynamic vertical community that promotes shared living, local production, and a vision for the future of urban agriculture.
